About Dream Basement Finishing

A Denver company that works below grade, and only there, so that lower levels feel like the rest of the house.

Why a basement company

Basements are their own discipline. They hold the systems the house depends on, they sit in the ground, and in Colorado they deal with radon, expansive clay and window wells that collect snowmelt. A general remodel approach treats those as surprises. A basement approach plans for them from the first visit.

That focus shapes everything we do. We measure to the lowest duct before drawing a room. We find the sewer line before we place a bar or a bathroom. We decide where a bedroom can go by where a legal escape window can be cut. Only then do we talk about finishes, and by that point the finishes have a plan worth putting them in.

The goal is a lower level that does not feel like a basement: proportioned rooms, light that arrives from the right places, materials chosen for below-grade conditions and details that hold up when you look closely.

Three principles we hold ourselves to

  1. A hand-drafted measured floor plan on a cutting mat, with a drafting square and pencils

    Architectural intelligence

Lead with proportion, flow and how the space will be lived in. A room is drawn from the bottom of the stair, not from a catalog.

  2. Close view of a profiled wood edge and the clean corner of a cabinet top

    Visible craftsmanship

Material transitions, joinery and lighting are designed, then built to be seen up close: scribed cabinetry, even reveals, quiet doors.

    Quiet confidence

Clear explanations and concrete scope. We would rather show you a drawing than a superlative.
